Sander Spek (*1980, Waalwijk, The Netherlands) studied Information Management at Tilburg University. After his Master’s, he went to Maastricht University to start a Ph.D. at the Institute for Knowledge and Agent Technology (IKAT, currently MICC). His dissertation deals with dynamics and trust in Wikipedia.
With this disseration still in progress, he joined the European Centre for Digital Communication (ECDC) in 2007, to work as a researcher in the field of digital communication and new media. His main study there focussed around ‘embedded publishing’, the publishing by professional organisations and individuals that have other core business. For example, think of blogging politicians and companies starting their own web-tv or YouTube channel. This research mainly studies the impact of this development on the traditional publishing sector, in particular the Flemish newspaper industry. It is part of the FLEET project.
Sander is an amateur photographer, amateur juggler, and a (indie) music appreciatist.
This website is an incoherent collection of everything that came to mind and that needed a place on the web.
